DO NOT HIRE AN ARTIST WHO HAS NOT PRESENTED YOU WITH A PROPOSAL & THEN A CONTRACT!

There are no exceptions to this rule.

 

Putting these commitments in writing at the beginning of the process is critical so that all parties understand the expectations and their responsibilities in the project.  

 

The contract should outline all of the expectations for design, fabrication, working with the community, copyright, lifespan of the artwork, the ability to remove the artwork, and the payment schedule for the artist.
