The Marvin Memorial Library, is located in Shelby, Ohio.
This is an exterior mural, located on the west facing wall (parking lot). It is 310 square feet and was painted by Wendy & Joel Morrow.
This mural is historical fiction- a diverse depiction of what the library may have looked like in the early 1900’s.
Some of the features in this mural are imagined & some are based on facts.

Caroline "Carrie" Marvin Fleming

Caroline Marvin Fleming is featured in this mural. She is reading to a group of children on the left side of the mural. Ms. Marvin was the 1st librarian at The Shelby Reading Reading Room. (From it's inception to 1916). She grew up in Shelby, Ohio and moved away to Washington D.C. after her marriage to George B. Fleming. Mr. Fleming was a superintendent of the pension department for the US government.
